Overview

At Chamberlayne we have a fully inclusive ethos, and high aspirations for each and every one of our students.

 

We are a small, community school and pride ourselves on the personable, caring relationships that we are able to build with our students and their families. Chamberlayne College for the Arts is totally committed to inclusion and the development of empathy, and a commitment to total equality of opportunity are principles which lie at the heart of the school.

Behaviour

For the benefit of all at our school and within our surrounding community, we demand high standards of behaviour from all of our students at all times. Good behaviour is rewarded through e-praise points, internal awards, and is required for attendance at the school's prom and various other extra curricular trips.

 

We have robust, supportive procedures in place to address poor behaviour, friendship issues, and any alleged incidents of bullying. For information can be found here. We also work proactively with students to give them the skills they need to thrive within and beyond Chamberlayne via our regular Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development lessons.

Attendance

We  expect our students to have an excellent record of attendance, and to arrive at school on time and ready to learn - we cannot educate our students or keep them safe if they are not on our premises during school hours. Our attendance approach and process can be found here.

 

Students with additional needs

All students, regardless of need, deserve to be able to access the education here on offer at Chamberlayne. Please also feel free to contact Mr. Giles (Headteacher and SENCO), who will be able to help you with any SEN related enquiries (head@chamberlayne.org). If you have any queries concerning first aid, medical, or how we store, handle and administer medicine to those who need it, please get in touch and our first aid officer will respond to your inquiry.

 

Additional funding

We receive additional funding for our disadvantaged students, and for our students who join us in year 7 attaining below expectations in literacy. For more information on how we ensure these funds are used to ensure our students attain and progress as they should please refer to Key Info.

Safeguarding

We take the safeguarding of our students very seriously. Our designated safeguarding leads ("DSLs") are Mr Giles, Ms Keyse, Mr Toone, Dr Church, Mrs Welch, Mrs Moth and Mrs Hooper. For more information on safeguarding, including how to escalate concerns, please click here

 

External support

Our students are fortunate to benefit from our excellent links with external agencies such as Saints Foundation, No limits, EBP, local colleges and a specialist career's advisor. These agencies provide a range of services - such as counselling, careers advice and mentoring, and opportunities - such as the Saints Leadership Programme, inspiring trips and work experience.

If you have any queries about your child’s welfare or attainment at school we recommend that, in the first instance, you contact our Pastoral Care team (Year 11 – Claire Welch, years 9 and 10 – Carlie Hooper, years 7 and 8– Charmaine Moth).

If, after speaking to the pastoral care team, you do have further queries or concerns that you would like to raise with us, please contact Mr Giles' PA  who will arrange an appointment for you with one of the Senior Leadership Team (Mr Giles, Ms Keyse or myself) as soon as our diary commitments allow.
