CAFETERIA

Hot Food Menu, Available to order daily in Tutor time

Cafeteria Opening times

The school cafeteria is open for breakfast from 7.30 - 8.15am.  Students can access a range of food and drinks and meet their friends in the canteen before the school day starts.

Break is served between 10.50 and 11.15. A wide range of snacks are available - hot and cold - as well as filled baguettes, sandwiches and fruit.

Lunch is served between 13.20 and 13.50. There are hot meal selections (both meat and vegetarian) available as well as sandwiches, fruit and biscuits

At break and lunchtimes students may buy food and drinks from the school cafeteria. They may also bring their own food and drinks and eat in the school hall.

At break-time, students may use the hall or go outside into the playgrounds.

Students will be allowed on the field near the tennis courts when the weather permits.  At lunchtime, students may go to the Hall, to the library, within the school grounds or to an organised activity.

At the start of the year, your child’s tutor will explain the standard of conduct which is expected of all students during break-times and lunchtimes.

Please note that students are not allowed to go off the school site at break or lunchtime.

Fizzy drinks are not allowed on our site.

Payment

We operate a cashless cafeteria and the main benefits of this system are:

  • Convenient way of paying for school meals, no more looking for change every morning

  • Discourages the misuse of school dinner money through spending in the shops outside the school grounds

  • Alleviates many of the associated problems with the use of cash in school, i.e. theft or loss

  • Specific food allergy ingredients can be barred automatically

  • Healthy eating is encouraged

  • Queuing times are reduced through increased speed of service

  • Automatic free school meal allocation with the student remaining anonymous

The system works as a biometric system.

Every student will have their own id number and when the cashier swipes their card they will see a photo of the student, the balance on the card and the card number.  The cost of any food purchased at breakfast service, morning break or lunch will be deducted from the cash balance on the card. Students can check their cash balance on their cards by using the cash machine where they will load the money onto them.

The cash machines will accept £2, £1, 50p, 20p and 10p coins. You can also make online payments. Please contact Mrs Brown, Finance Officer to request your own individual id.

Should you wish to pay by cheque, the cheque should be made payable to SCC.  Students need to bring the cheque with their name and tutor group written on the back to the finance office. The cheque will be loaded onto the system, which in turn will load the money on to the student’s card.

We have set a maximum spend limit of £3.75 per day but should you wish to increase this for your child, please telephone the school office and advise them what limit you would like to be set.

Free school meals

From the 1st of April 2018 the eligibility criteria for free school meals will change.

Any student eligible for free school meals at the point an earned income threshold is introduced (i.e. eligible before 1 April) will retain their eligibility until the end of the rollout of Universal Credit (March 2022), regardless of whether their circumstances change. Any student who becomes eligible under the amended criteria during the rollout of the Universal Credit (from 1 April 2018 to March 2022) will also retain their eligibility until the end of Universal Credit rollout, regardless of whether their circumstances change.

Advice for students with food allergies

If your child has any food allergies, please contact the school reception and ask for an Individual Health Care Plan for you to complete and return advising us of the food allergies your child may have.

Online Payments (SCOpay - School Cash Office System)

We use SCOPAY for our online payments. Parents have the flexibility and convenience of paying online with an account created on the SCOPAY website. You may already have an account, if so great news, they’ve released a new mobile app.

Using SCOPAY allows you to top up your child’s account anywhere, anytime using a credit or debit card.

All parents have access to SCOPAY, if you have not yet registered to make online payments, please let the office know and an access code will be issued to you.
